About the Artist

I began exploring photography in the early 1980’s when living in Tempe, Arizona. While enrolled in photography classes in the Art Department of Arizona State University, using 35mm black-and-white film, I documented Tempe, Phoenix and the surrounding area.

I continued my photographic exploration after moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1983. In addition to continuing my self-guided field work, I worked on both craft and photographic knowledge through classes at San Francisco State University, UC Berkeley Extension, California College of Arts and Crafts, and San Francisco City College.

Finding my interests moving away from street photography and toward the natural world, I began using 4×5-inch field cameras. But, after a motorcycle accident, I went back to the smaller and lighter equipment, and began experimenting with digital capture. The images displayed on this site represents some of my recent small form factor digital work.

My images have been part of various exhibits in the Northern California area including exhibits curated by the Santa Clara Art League, Arts Benicia and Marin Society of Arts.

I hope you enjoy viewing my work. If you have any questions or wish to initiate a conversation, please use the Contact Robert form. Thank you for stopping by.
